31/03/1860 Thanet Advertiser - The brig SPARTAN, Gibb, master, of Kincardine, on route from London to Malta, was towed into harbour (Ramsgate) 25th March 1860 having carried away her jib-boom, lost an anchor and cable under the Nore, another under the Girdler, and broke one under the North Foreland.
1863 Lloyd's Register of Shipping reported the vessel LOST>
