Foundered in Moray Firth, northeast of Tarbat Ness Lighthouse. 8.2.1923 Left Leith for Wick with a cargo of manure and encountering terrific weather had to put into port five times for shelter. On the 21st, as she was foundering, the crew jumped in to the lifeboat, still on deck, and floated off when the steamer sank. Rescued by the Lossiemouth drifter, SAPPHIRE, under skipper Gault who stood by the stricken vessel all night. |
